Afrobeats star Davido has revealed that he wants to go into acting and movie production. He shared this in a recent interview with Vibe Magazine.
The singer said he will appear in a movie in 2026. He also plans to co-executive produce two movies with cinematographer Dammy Twitch. Davido added that a documentary is also on the way.

Fans have found the news easy to believe. Many say it fits his personality and his status as one of Africa’s biggest entertainers.
It is not yet clear which movie Davido will appear in this year. But this will not be his first time on screen. He made a cameo appearance in Toyin Abraham’s 2020 film “Fate of Alakada”. In 2021, he also appeared in a scene in Eddie Murphy’s Hollywood film “Coming 2 America”, where his hit song “Assurance” was performed.
His plan to work with Dammy Twitch is also not a surprise. The two have worked together for years. Dammy Twitch has directed several of Davido’s music videos, including his 2025 hit “With You” with Omah Lay.
Dammy Twitch recently made his directing debut with the Nollywood romantic movie “Call of My Life”. The film has done well at the cinema. It has made over 800 million naira, making it the highest grossing Nollywood movie of 2025 so far.
Davido’s move into film production shows how much his business empire is growing. He already runs a record label and is active in philanthropy and investment. He is the son of billionaire businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke, but he often says he has built his own name and wealth despite being born into money.
While fans wait to see this new side of Davido, he is not slowing down in music. On July 31, 2026, he released his sixth studio album titled “ORIADE”. The 13 track project features Leon Thomas, Black Sherif, Aya Nakamura, Mayorkun, Fola, Llona, NO11, and JAZZWRLD.
