Award-winning Nigerian actress, Kehinde Bankole is part of the cast of Anna Hibiscus’ song, a movie adapted from a book written by Atinuke.
Anna Hibiscus’ Song is a theatrical adaptation of the popular children’s book which tells a story about a happy girl telling a wonderful story about life in “Amazing Africa”.
The young girl asks every member of her family what makes them happy.
Kehinde Bankole, known for her exceptional ability in acting, will play Auntie Jolie and Storyteller, joining the fabulous original cast from 2023’s production: Malick Bojang, Althea Burey, Dorthea Darby, Julius Obende, and Saskia Rose.
Kehinde Bankole said about her latest role, “I’m always seeking new adventures and particularly enjoy sharing the vibrant essence of African stories and its rich tapestry. I’m so looking forward to being part of this wonderful adaptation of a beautiful story that will capture young and old audiences’ imaginations.”
According to Uthopia Theatre, the movie adapted for the stage and directed by Mojisola Kareem, will be available for streaming from 14-20 October as part of Black History Month. Children aged 3+ and their grown-ups will learn moral lessons through traditional African storytelling.
Kehinde Bankole has garnered a dedicated fan base and consistently high viewership, consistently winning awards. She recently won the ‘Best Lead Actress’ at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for her role in Adire.
