Kunle Afolayan, the creative force behind one of Nigeria’s biggest epic tales, has exciting news for everyone who loves deep Yoruba stories mixed with mystery and drama. The second season of the Anikulapo series is finally coming to Netflix on January 30.
The talented director shared this update himself on social media, asking fans, “Are you ready?” We certainly are!
This new season brings back many beloved stars who made the story so captivating before. You will see powerful performances from Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Ademoye, Oyindamola Sanni, Aisha Lawal, Moji Afolayan, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Taiwo Hassan, and Lateef Adedimeji. One big change, though: Kunle Remi, who brought the character Saro to life so memorably, will not return this time.
To keep things fresh and exciting, some talented new faces join the lineup. Look out for popular skit maker and actress KieKie (Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori), Teniola Aladese, veteran Antar Laniyan, Joke Muyiwa, Saidi Balogun, Big Brother Naija star Saga (Adeoluwa Okusaga), and Tayo Faniran.
The team worked hard and fast on this season. Shooting kicked off on August 1 and finished by September 19, all in just 50 days. They filmed mostly at the beautiful KAP Film Village and Resort in Igbojaye, Oyo State, but also took the production to stunning spots in Cape Coast, Ghana.
This move across borders happened thanks to a great partnership between Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Motion Pictures and Ghana’s National Film Authority. It is part of the “Shoot in Ghana” project, which aims to boost filmmaking in Ghana and show more African collaboration on screen.
