It’s a double celebration for Nigerians in October as we welcome the new month and celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day, home to the world’s second-largest movie industry, Nollywood. October is packed with exciting Nollywood movies, and here’s a list of Nollywood movies to watch this month:

Life and Dirt

Release date – October 3, 2024

Life and Dirt is a crime thriller movie set to be released on October 3 on the Prime video streaming platform. The official synopsis of the movie is two men who plot a get-rich. quick scheme but there were obstacles.

Directed by James Alabi, the movie features Shaffy Bello, Chidi Mokeme, Kanayo O Kanayo, Uzor Arukwe, Idia Alisen, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, and others.

A Night in 2005

Release date – October 11, 2024

Directed by Temidayo Abudu Makanjuola, A Night in 2005 is coming to Cinema on the 11th of October, 2024. The movie is an epic drama of love, friends, and family, and its story unfolds on a fateful night when, in an instant, everything changes in the blink of an eye.

The movie’s cast includes Bimbo Akintola, Ini Dima-Okojie, Efa Iwara, Ireti Doyle, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, and many others.

Inside Life

Release date – October 11, 2024

Inside Life produced by Clarence A Peters and written by AMVCA nominee, Olumide Kuti alongside Tonia Chukwurah will be available to watch on Netflix from October, 11.

The movie tells a story of A journey into an underground mystical world of injustice, abuse, and survival, through the eyes of a series of individuals.

Clarence A Peters featured Jide Kosoko, Zack Orji, Meg Otanwa, Scarlet Gomez, Gabriel Afolayan, and many others.

The Uprising: Wives on Strike

Release date – October 18, 2024

The third installment movie, The Uprising: Wives on Strike produced by Omoni Oboli will premiere in Cinemas on October 18.

The film’s synopsis is a story of an honor graduate, who is kidnapped upon returning home. Driven by vengeance, his mother embarks on a bloody quest to rescue him, plunging into a violent and horrible ordeal.

The old cast of the film including Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Ufuoma McDermott, and Chioma Akpotha were featured in the movie.

Other actors namingly veteran actress Hilda Dokubo, Tomiwa Tegbe, Segun Arinze, Kalu Ikeagwu, Julius Agwu, Emeka Okoye, Bukunmi “Kie Kie” Adeaga, and Okey Bakassi will grace the big screen.

3 Working Days

Release date – October 18, 2024

Directed by Ossai, 3 Working Days is coming to the big screen on October 18. With a powerful ensemble; Detola Jones, Linda Osifo, Tobi Makinde, Deyemi Okanlawon, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Romeo WJ, Tobi Makinde, Mike Afolarin, Femi Adebayo, Victor Osuagwu, Bolaji Ogunmola, Seun Kentebe, Odunaro Emmanuel, Mike Ezeruonye, and Gbugbemi Ejeye.

3 Working Days follows a father’s quest to provide for his family while dealing with Nigeria’s cash scarcity crisis. Ossai dives into this film with a story about a father who makes the ultimate sacrifice for his son.

Hijack 93

Release date – October 25, 2024

Directed by Robert O. Peters, “Hijack ‘93” follows a plane hijack carried out by four Nigerian teenagers under the banner of “Movement for the Actualisation of Democracy” (MAD). These teenagers allegedly hijacked an airplane containing top government officials including Rong Yiren, the vice president of China, and Nigerian government officials, in transit to Abuja from Lagos.

The plane hijackers had demanded that MKO Abiola be reinstated as the President of Nigeria as Nigeria was in talks of transforming into a civilian rule after decades of military rule. The boys were caught, imprisoned, and later released.

“Hijack ‘93”  features A-list actors including Jemima Osunde, Nancy Isime, Efa Iwara, Sharon Ooja, Ego Nwosu, John Dumelo, Nnamdi Agbo, Allison Emmanuel, Yakubu Muhammed, and Sani Muazu.

Hijack 93 will be available to stream on Netflix from the 11th of October, 2024.

Soft Love

Release date – October 25, 2024

Nemsia Studios produce Holmes Awa’s romantic comedy, Soft Love, and will stream on Prime Video from the 25th of October, 2024.

The film features Efa Iwara, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, Genoveva Umeh, Carol King, Rosemary Zimu, and many others.
