Funke Akindele, a popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker, has made big news again. Her new movie, Behind The Scenes, has earned more than ₦1 billion at the cinemas. This happened just weeks after the film came out on December 12, 2025.
This is the third time one of her movies has reached ₦1 billion. The others are A Tribe Called Judah from 2023 and Everybody Loves Jenifa from 2024. Funke is the first filmmaker to have three movies in a row earn this much in one year. People call her the Queen of the Nigerian Box Office because she keeps breaking records.
The movie also set new records. It made the most money in one day ever on December 26, with ₦129.5 million. It is now the highest earning Nollywood film of 2025, with over ₦1.1 billion so far.
Funke thanked her fans on social media. She said, “Over the years, I have always valued my fans, because without God and you, I am nobody. Thank you all for coming out to watch this movie and for supporting my brand through the years. Thank you to the distributors, my colleagues especially those not in the movie who still came out to meet and greet my fans. Big love to the cast and crew. This is only the beginning.
