Nollywood Actor Chimezie Imo has disclosed that he lost approximately 11kg to play a sickle cell survivor in the film “Choke”.

He revealed this while participating in the Hip TV show “Trending,” hosted by Kim Oprah, a former housemate of BBNaija.

He stated, “As a sickle cell survivor, I needed to lose weight, so I had about two to three weeks, and I lost about 11kg or thereabout.”

Remember the character Kosisi, portrayed by Chimezie Imo, has sickle cell anemia and is scheduled for a bone marrow transplant. However, his parents divert the funds intended for his treatment to purchase miracle water from a fervent reverend. He loses his chance to discover love as well as experiencing physical and mental health problems. Kosisi, whose circumstances are filled with anguish and pain, pursues everyone he believes to be to blame. Chimezie highlights the challenges faced by sickle cell patients, revealing how the illness affects their daily activities, friendships, and family relationships, and how much their suffering can influence their lives.

His performance in the movie earned his first AMVCA nomination but he won the nomination Trailblazer Award for his outstanding performance in ‘Breath of Life‘.
