Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has announced that she is now a minister of God and a preacher of the gospel.
The Yoruba actress made the announcement on social media after her recent posts raised concerns among her friends, family members, and colleagues.
Odetola said she appreciated the calls and messages from people who wanted to know if she was doing well. She explained that although something significant is happening in her life, there is nothing wrong with her.
“I truly appreciate the numerous calls, messages, and concerns of my friends, family, and colleagues. Thank you so much. I feel seen, cared for, and loved,” she said.
“Yes, something is going on in my life, but nothing is wrong with me. I am entering a new season with God. I am now a minister of God. I am now a preacher of the gospel.”
Jumoke Odetola explains her new calling
The actress said she had considered keeping her new spiritual journey private but eventually decided to speak publicly about it.
According to Odetola, she could not easily keep a ministry focused on preaching the gospel private because people could eventually see her preaching in public.
She also asked her fans and followers to pray for her as she begins this new chapter.
“I need all the prayers in this season. When God compels you, you may delay, but you cannot escape the call,” she said.
Jumoke Odetola’s announcement marks a new phase in the public life of the award-winning actress, who has built a career across Yoruba and English language Nollywood productions.
The actress has received several honours for her work, including the Revelation of the Year award at the 2015 Best of Nollywood Awards and Best Actress in a Leading Role in the Yoruba category at the 2017 Best of Nollywood Awards.
For now, Odetola has not announced further details about a formal ministry or specific programmes. Her announcement has, however, made her new Christian ministry and commitment to preaching the gospel a significant part of her public journey.
