On Sunday, the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs published the names of 339 notable Nigerians, including Davido and Kunle Afolayan, who would receive national awards in 2023.
The chosen awardees will formally get their medals and certificates on June 1, 2023, according to the minister.
The list featured some entertainers. Both David Adeleke, better known as Davido, and renowned director Kunle Afolayan received the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
Victor Osimhen, a striker for the Super Eagles and Napoli, was awarded the MFR (Member of The Order of Federal Republic) rank.
The socialite Terry Waya, who is of Benue descent, was awarded a cadre in the OFR.
Comedian AY, a well-known stand-up comedian, was awarded the MFR, or Member of the Order of the Federal Republic.
In a newest update, comedian Ay took to his Instagram page to reintroduce himself to the world as he added the national award (MFR) to his name.
He wrote, “I am indeed happy to be listed amongst individuals adding value to the country in all spheres of human endeavour.Not everyone gets to enjoy that special grace that brings me nothing short of consistent favour against all odds. At this point permit me to reintroduce myself, I am Dr Richard Ayodeji Makun (MFR).”
