Veteran actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has made a big and kind promise. She will give 100 percent of the proceeds from her new movie “Mother’s Love” to Slum2School Africa.
This generous move comes from the share that goes to her production company, Redhot Concepts Limited, from the film’s cinema earnings. The announcement happened at a special private screening event for the movie.
“Mother’s Love” marks Omotola’s debut as a director. The film tells an emotional story about the strength, sacrifice, and love of mothers. It celebrates women and touches on real life topics. After showing at international festivals like the Pan African Film Festival, it had its Nigerian premiere recently and is now showing in cinemas across the country.
Slum2School Africa is a well known group that helps children in poor areas get education. They work hard to support kids who live in slums and underserved communities, like in Makoko, by providing school access and other help.
Omotola, often called Omosexy, wants to use the success of her film to make a real difference in young lives. This act sets a great example in Nollywood for using movie success to give back to society. Fans and industry people have praised her heart of gold. Many say this is a proud moment for Nigerian cinema.
