Nollywood has made history after Black Market officially broke the Guinness World Record for the largest audience gathered for a movie screening.
More than 51,000 people gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on Saturday, September 26, for the record-breaking screening of the film.
The achievement was announced by the film’s producers, Rixel Studios, Signet Ring Studios and FilmOne Studios, who celebrated the turnout as a historic moment for Nigerian cinema.
The event brought together more than 51,000 people in one location to watch Black Market, turning what was planned as a movie screening into one of the biggest cinema events in Nigeria.
The film stars Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Ibrahim Yekini, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok and Uzor Arukwe, among others.
Black Market is produced by Rixel Studios, Signet Ring Studios and FilmOne Studios and distributed by FilmOne.
The record comes as the Nigerian film industry continues to expand its audience and create large-scale cinema experiences.
