Netflix Set To Drop Epic Movie, “Lisabi: The Uprising”

The streaming giant, Netflix has released the first look at images of the newly acquired epic movie, “Lisabi: The Uprising”, produced by Niyi Akinmolayan and Lateef Adedimeji.

The new epic film, Lisabi: The Uprising which will premiere on Netflix on September 27, 2024, promises to deliver the exciting story of a Yoruba hero, Lisabi, whose life made a lasting impression in Nigerian history.

Also, its sequel, Lisabi: A Legend is Born, is coming to Netflix in January 2025.

Viewers should get ready to see how Egba’s independence was secured after defeating over 6,000 Oyo Soldiers.

The movie features A-list stars such as Liquorose Afije, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele-Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, MO Bimpe, and Eniola Ajao.

From the first look teasers, it shows the movie displays the full richness of Yoruba Culture from the costumes to Yoruba languages. The movie captures the early most skilled and productive craftsmen of Africa which is farming. A group of Egba farmers seeking for their independence from the Oyo Empire.

Lisabi: The Uprising

As part of Netflix’s mission to bring African storytelling to a global stage, the movie explores the use of charm and amulets in Yoruba culture.

MO Bimpe appears to be a female warrior in the epic movie.
